📱 Mobile Application – New Updates

Summary:

  • added deep/universal links support
  • the new ‘currency’ type is supported for tasks custom fields
  • changed the logic of user interaction with files in iOS.

What is deep linking? Deep links are a type of link that send users directly to an app instead of a website or a store. They are used to send users straight to specific in-app locations, saving users the time and energy locating a particular page themselves – significantly improving the user experience.

Universal linking is Apple’s method of launching apps on iOS when linked from a website. Universal Links are a particular protocol for deep linking that are exclusive to Apple devices (available in iOS version 9 and above).

Custom Fields

We added a currency custom field in the web interface and now adding currency support on mobile.

Files on iOS

We decided to change the logic of user interaction with files on iOS. We noticed that current file management (opening / previewing / sharing) works differently for each iOS version. We wanted to make sure that every user could fully use the functionality of the application regardless of the iOS version.

Since iOS 12, which is the minimum supported version for our mobile application, Apple added Files App. It allows the user to more comfortably interact with the file system.

In the new 4.4.4 version released on the 6th June 2022, you will be able to download files directly to the Freedcamp folder. Once a file is downloaded you can be redirected to the Apple Files app, from where you can view, share, rename or delete it. Now you don’t need to open the Freedcamp application to access your downloaded Files – they will be always available via Apple Files.
