Freedcamp helps Cambridge historians

The Casebooks Project uses Freedcamp to help editors who are miles apart code complex medical records from the 17th century.

The Casebooks Project makes the medical records of Simon Forman and Richard Napier, two of England’s most popular seventeenth century astrologers, available online. Researchers at the University of Cambridge are funded by the Welcome Trust to make these documents, held in the Bodleian Library, University of Oxford, publicly available. These records provide a unique view of the lives of ordinary – and extraordinary – people four centuries ago. This is one of the most extensive surviving sets of medical records in history.
